SECOND ANNUAL BARDWELL FUNDRAISER CELEBRATES THE MEMORY OF EDUCATOR
ROGER W. BARDWELL
Chicago IL. – On
September 21st the Bardwell Scholarship Fund will
present its Second Annual Artists Extravaganza to help raise
funds to assist adult working students who would otherwise be unable
to receive a college education. The Scholarship Fund was
established in living memory of Roger W. Bardwell, a man whose
life was defined by commitment to innovation in public education.
Supporting Bardwell’s strong belief in the process of education,
fund recipients (www.bardwellscholarships.org)
receive a wide range of support which may include tuition to one of
Chicago’s City colleges, books, mentoring and on-going goal
assessments.
Hosted by gARTh and his fellow artists at Gallery 203,
the fundraiser will be held in Chicago’s historic
Flat Iron Building,
1579 Milwaukee Avenue from 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm. Refreshments
will be provided by Ben Tre Café, a Vietnamese restaurant
owned and operated by the family of a Bardwell Scholar.
The gala evening will showcase a variety of artists and their works,
from water color and acrylics on canvas, prints, photography and
handcrafted ceramics. As with last year’s event, a silent auction is
planned.
“This premier fundraising event, near the 12th
anniversary of my husband’s death, will bring together our family of
Bardwell recipients, guests and art lovers as we honor
Roger’s life work and his commitment to long range societal
solutions through education”, commented Hedy Cohen, co-founder
of the Bardwell Scholarship Fund, and wife of Roger Bardwell.
###
Founded in 1994, after Roger
Bardwell’s untimely and tragic death, the fund was established with
contributions from friends and family made at that time. The
fund was further increased with the prestigious Carnegie Hero Award
for the selfless deed which ended Bardwell’s life. For more
