Chicago Wilderness Gives Keynote Address
September 11, 2006 – In celebration of our
prairies and wilderness heritage, the Unitarian Universalist Church
of Elgin, will hold its annual Prairie Fest on Saturday,
September 30th from 10:00 AM to 5:00
PM. The day-long event will feature environmental workshops and
exhibits, live entertainment, interactive activities and self-guided
tours.

of the Chicago National Audubon Society programs will give the
Prairie Fest keynote presentation, Orchids and Flames – The
Delicate and Ferocious in Nature. An expert in the restoration
of prairies and oak woodlands, Mr. Packard’s work has led to new
insights that have challenged the conventional wisdom about the
dynamics of our vanishing prairie communities.
On stage, beginning at 1:00 PM and continuing throughout the
afternoon, attendees can enjoy live entertainment, including the
Villa Street musicians and band, folk singer Peg Lehman, and a
special appearance of the Burlington Central High School Chorale.
